Happy Halloween!(and a boo to you too)!

 Jules here...you know, the Halloween freak? I don't make a lot of cards so when I do I like to make them extra special.  This is a hinged and gated Halloween card that was such fun to create and so easy with CI's Hallow's Eve by Marah Johnson.  I used the 6x6 pad of paper that is so perfect for card making and Marah Johnson's die cut coordinated shapes.  You get 36 single sided sheets of 6x6 papers in 12 different designs
in the paper pack and 40 die cut shapes in the shapes package.  So you can make Halloween cards til the bats fly home.

When the 'antiqued' hinge, which I bought in the wood working section of a craft store, is opened, the inside of the card and its greeting show.

I even decorated the back.

DIRECTIONS

 

1.  Use the Twinkling H20 China Black and paint the lace black on both sides and allow it to dry.

2. From the paper pack,

   a)place one of the gate pages over another and fancy cut them out.

   b) fancy cut the witch paper including the black lace. 

   c) from a second witch paper sheet, just cut out the witch and her pumpkin

   d) cut out the raven on another gate page to layer over the first one.

   e)  cut two pieces of the black and purple patterned paper to measure 4 x 6.

3.  Cut the gate papers down the middle of the gates and glue them back to back (see the photos of the front of the card above and the inside of the card).

4. Fold the two sides of the gate at the outmost posts and glue these to the back of  one sheet of the black and purple patterned paper.  Glue the second sheet of the black and purple patterned paper to the first with the pattern facing out (see the back of the card photo).  On the inside of the card, glue the witch fancy cut piece with the lace design to the left of the card.

5.  Using a Sharpie or other permanent black marker, color most of the gold hinge.  With a paint brush, dab on spots of Twinkling H20s China Black to 'age' the hinge.  Allow to dry and then glue onto the front of the card making sure it

6. To give the ravens and the witch's bat wings shimmer, paint them with the Twinkling H20 and, while that is wet, add small amouts of the Primary Elements in Coral Berry dabbed here and there.  The effect is amazing.

7.  To finish the card, use pop dots to add the second raven to the front of the card, left hand side gate,  the second cut out of the witch and her pumpkin to the inside along with the greeting and the pieces to the back of the card.  Attach the lace at the top and before your can say "Bats in the Belfry" you have a fun Halloween card.

Keepin' the Pink going!

Hi Ya'll, Lynn here to share a project with you. In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month I wanted to create a card with plenty of pinkness! Here's my card ...

 I layered some papers from the Loolah 6x6 Paper Pad after distressing the edges. I used a roller stamp dipped in gesso and rolled it over the background. I then painted a bird foam stamp with Silks Acrylic Glaze in Pink Grapefruit and stamped the image on another piece from the paper pad. To make the bird more interesting I inked up a background stamp with black permanent ink and stamped it on the bird. Once dry, I scraped modeling paste over the Iron Romance Existencil to cover part of the bird and added some glitter. I edged the bird with gesso and adhered it with foam tape. I placed a few Die Cut Shapes from the Loolah ATC Pack here and there and added a title. My final touch was some splatters of Acrylic Glaze in Pink Grapefriut.

World Card Day!

Hi this is Cheryl and i am excited to share my painted card with you today! 

Nowadays we rarely send cards to each other through the mail.  I love cards, receiving them, sending them and creating them.  They are little pieces of our art that are meant to cheer up or encourage someone whether it be a birthday, anniversary or a simple "thinking of you" card. 

I designed this card using some scraps of our papers along with the swiss dot paper from Bazzill and an array of our beautiful Luminarte twinking h20's.  Here is how i designed it.

• scallop scissors
• Accucut dies:  Border scallop from Medium and small butterfly, Butterfly album, Scallop lace border 
  

Directions

1. I cut my card using Bazzill swiss dot cardstock into the standard size and folded it in half. 
2. Using my Accucut border dies I cut out a two butterflies {small and med} and two borders from our Paint it paper.
3. Paint the med butterfly and both borders using Luminarte Petite autumn brilliance paints - let dry. 
4. Cut the SW gold paper approx 4-1/4"x4" and adhere to top of card
5. Cut a strip using scallop scissors from paint it paper and swiss dot bazzill paper
6. Adhere the white scallop border along bottom of gold paper.
7. Cut a small strip approx 1/8"x6" and weave into the border lace scallop and trim ends
8. Add both strips that were painted as shown leaving room for the folded strip above scallop lace border.
9. Cut a 1/4"x12" strip from SW Tea party pansy paper and fold along long edge glueing under white scallop and trimming off excess.
10. Adhere small butterfly to med butterfly.
11. Paint small rose using Luminarte Autumn Brilliance paints - let dry
12. Adhere rose to center of butterfly and adhere butterfly to card.
13. Stamp or print out sentiment and mount to scrap piece of painted scallop paper.

Pink it is!!!

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.....

In recogintion of ALL who have overcome or
are overcoming a "life altering illness"
I say.........DREAM BIG!!!!

I began by creating my card base from Beach Cottage Paper.
I pulled out my Iron Romance ExiStencil
and lathered on some gesso.

When it was dry.....
I spritzed the card face with Sweet Whisper ~ Shimmering Mist.
I just love how the color settled in the crevices.

Of course, I had to tear up the edges of my card!!!

I pulled out a package of Devotion ~ Die Cuts and
found the perfect verbage for my card!!
   DREAM BIG!!

The butterfies I used are from the same package of Die Cuts.
I just rubbed a little gesso on them to tone 'em
down so they would flow with my card!!

 

To finish of the card....
I spritzed a Color Me Crazy flower
with Sweet Whisper ~ Shimmering Mist.
I then painted on a bit of Persimmon ~ Shimmering Mist
to add depth to the flower.
A few accent flowers.....a loopy bow
and my card is complete!!! 

I may have used this quote before....
but it just speaks volumes!!!

World Card Day ~ Pure Devotion

Hey Everyone Happy World Card Day!  Did you know World Card Making Day is the first Saturday of October? This card making holiday is especially for card makers around the world to celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family. 

Design team member, Lynn Kopas created a beautiful card to celebrate using our new 6x6 paper pads! 

 

it's Lynn here to share a card with you using the gorgeous papers from IOD's Devotion collection. I LOVE the color palette of this line - mauve, pink, pale green, light blue and black. The black makes the collection pop and the diecut shapes and stickers are loaded with fun butterflies and flowers. I cut a heart shape out of Marah Jonnson's Paint It paper - but I didn't alter it other than distressing the edges. The card is super easy to make and we be perfect for many occasions.  

 

I popped up a few butterflies and layered them to add some dimension ...
