In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I created this paper bra in frilly pinks and sparkling colors.  I would like to dedicate this to my Aunt Rita, Aunt Fran and my dear friend, Diane J who are all breast cancer survivors.  Because they did monthly self exams, had well women check ups regularly and had a mammogram when the doctors recommended, their breast cancer was caught early. To these women and all others, this bra is for you!

The Monarch Iris Foil paper by Marah Johnson was perfect for the bra as I wanted it to be lovely and pretty.  I used Luminarte's Twinkling H20s and Primary Elements to paint the design.  I used a heart shaped mini album as the template for the top of the bra . I cut two copies of each section from the Monarch Iris Foil paper; I painted one section and used the second as the liner for the bra and the side panels.

Next, I cut off the straps and the hooks and eyes from a worn out bra of my own, shortened the length of the straps and dyed them using Luminarte's Twinkling H20 in Rose Gold.  After the straps dried, I glued the straps and the pleated ribbon trim between the two pieces in the front and repeated this process for the side panels with the straps, the hooks and the eyes pieces. I added the trim to the front and the sides.

 

Off to make my mammogram appointment!

"PINK" Album by Shelley Hamilton

Shelley, here, with one last project for Breast Cancer Awareness month.

 

In this book, I put pictures of the females in my family.  I used the "Beautiful You" Collection by Christine Adolph.  It is such a gorgeous collection.  I used many papers from the 6"x6" paper pad, along with a couple of the 12"x12" papers, also.

 

Throughout the book, I used the die cut shapes from the collection.  Sometimes, I painted these with Luminarte Twinkling H20 in Heavenly White, and sometimes, I left them plain.

 

On these pages, besides using the die cut shapes, I used a bit of bling, and a corner punch.  I made several of the butterflies' wings stand up from the page, making them look 3D.

 

On this page, I pop-dotted the flower, then glued the butterfly on top.

 

I matted the photos in white paper, and used a scallop punch for the edges.

 

On the back of the album, I embellished with a felt flower, a mini-wooden ruler, and some stick-pins.  I also used our Antique Frame Transparency to add interest.

When the discussions started regarding this month being 
NATIONAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH....
I knew I wanted to create something "OUTSIDE the BOX"
and I didn't want my creations to be just about "PINK"!

SOOOOO.....I decided to "REDRESS" a mannequin that's
been kicking around for awhile now!!

and it all began here.....

I gathered up a bunch of various "TWINKS" 
aka.....Luminarte ~ Twinkling H20's!
all in the "red" color palette.
...threw in a few golds for spice!!

I covered the paper mache Mannequin with Black Gesso.

When the "Twinks" were nice and gooopy [meaning less water ~ because I wanted
more intense color]

I placed globs of the Twinkling H20 goodness at the neck of the 
mannequin and let the drips begin.

I also took Color Me Crazy flowers by Petaloo
and colored up a bunch of the flowers.

Which I used as a colorful brassier....
to accent my mannequin!! 

I finished my girl off with WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT....
because any woman who has OVERCOME
any type of devasating event...
needs to know that she is...

BELOVED.....
STRONG.....
AND
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

An Artful Journey

Hey Everyone, Lynn here with another project for our monthly Art Journaling Feature! I am in LOVE with art journaling and I learn something new with each page! I never know where the page will go but love to watch a blank page morph into something fun and artful! I used my 9 x 12 Sketch book and combined various products from Creative Imaginations along with Mixed Media products, and added some pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. My challenge for this month's project was to incorporate a magazine image, Existencils and Luminarte Silks Acrylic Glaze. Here's the result followed by some details ...

I sprayed my page with water first, then sprayed Luminarte Radiant Rain Shimmering Mists in Pewter, Moonbeams and Ginger Flower. I pressed the opposite blank page on top of that mixture to absorb some of the Luminarte and also create another background for a future page. This is also great for a two page project. I then grabbed my Nature 12 x 12 Existencil and placed it over the page. I spritzed water over the stencil, removed the stencil and dabbed the water off with paper towels. A subtle rose image is left behind ...

I applied my magazine image - I LOVE this one!! - with multi medium. I used the angel wing stencil from the Monarch Stencil 12 x 12 Kit and applied modeling paste over the stencil. The flowers in her hand are from the IOD Devotion Cardstock Sticker Sheet - a perfect match!

I added some stamped images, painted circles, ribbons, black and white rub-ons for more interest. The black lines were created by dipping a craft scrapper in Black Ice Silks Acrylic Glaze and edging the paint onto the page in various places ...

I wish you could see how this page shimmers! I painted Luminarte Twinkling H20's in Ice over the wing, added a title and was done!

"Courage is Power" card for World Card Day!!

Shelley here with a card for World Card Day and Breast Cancer awareness month!

For my "Courage is Power" card, I began with several different papers from the 6"x6" paper pad from the "Beautiful You" collection by Christine Adolf.  This paper is absolutely gorgeous!  I used several different border punches on some of the edges of the papers, then assembled them on the card as shown.  I used the "Courage" cut out from the same paper pad, and matted it with the pink paper from the Dots and Stripes Warm 6"x6" paper pad.  I then pop-dotted it to the card, and placed a couple of pink flowers underneath.

 

Toward the bottom right-hand part of the card, I used a set of gates from the Life as Art Die Cut shapes.  I painted them with Silks Acrylic Glaze in Pink Grapefruit.  I used 2 small pieces of eye candy on the doors.

 

Under the doors is a pod from the Mixaparts system.  I started with a small circle cut out from the 6"x6" "Beautiful You" paper pad.  I painted it with Pink Azalea Twinkling H20.  I then used an overlay from the Shabby Chic prepack and a white resin piece from the Majesty Resin set.  I put a few glass beads in the pod, then glued it closed.  I used a 1" hole punch in the card, and glued the pod in from the back.  On the inside of the doors, I used some Oceanside Words and painted it with the Pink Azalea twinkling H20.

 

I was really pleased with the finished project!!  I enjoyed sharing this project with you!

Keepin' the Pink going!

Hi Ya'll, Lynn here to share a project with you. In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month I wanted to create a card with plenty of pinkness! Here's my card ...

 I layered some papers from the Loolah 6x6 Paper Pad after distressing the edges. I used a roller stamp dipped in gesso and rolled it over the background. I then painted a bird foam stamp with Silks Acrylic Glaze in Pink Grapefruit and stamped the image on another piece from the paper pad. To make the bird more interesting I inked up a background stamp with black permanent ink and stamped it on the bird. Once dry, I scraped modeling paste over the Iron Romance Existencil to cover part of the bird and added some glitter. I edged the bird with gesso and adhered it with foam tape. I placed a few Die Cut Shapes from the Loolah ATC Pack here and there and added a title. My final touch was some splatters of Acrylic Glaze in Pink Grapefriut.

Pink it is!!!

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.....

In recogintion of ALL who have overcome or
are overcoming a "life altering illness"
I say.........DREAM BIG!!!!

I began by creating my card base from Beach Cottage Paper.
I pulled out my Iron Romance ExiStencil
and lathered on some gesso.

When it was dry.....
I spritzed the card face with Sweet Whisper ~ Shimmering Mist.
I just love how the color settled in the crevices.

Of course, I had to tear up the edges of my card!!!

I pulled out a package of Devotion ~ Die Cuts and
found the perfect verbage for my card!!
   DREAM BIG!!

The butterfies I used are from the same package of Die Cuts.
I just rubbed a little gesso on them to tone 'em
down so they would flow with my card!!

 

To finish of the card....
I spritzed a Color Me Crazy flower
with Sweet Whisper ~ Shimmering Mist.
I then painted on a bit of Persimmon ~ Shimmering Mist
to add depth to the flower.
A few accent flowers.....a loopy bow
and my card is complete!!! 

I may have used this quote before....
but it just speaks volumes!!!
