Happy Holidays! I was thrilled when I opened up my kit from Frog Dog Studio and found a bottle tree, tinsel, a sheet of images, and lots of other goodies! I went for a vintage-glitz style for my creation this year.
To get a super sparkly background, put down liquid adhesive, spread it out evenly, pour in glitter. Let it dry, then pour out (back into the bottle) what ever didn't stick. I then sprayed the surface with Luminarte Radiant Rain which adds a little binder with the shimmer it sprays.
The great thing about the white bottle trees is that they can become any color and any style! I started painting the tree with Luminarte Silks Fern green. Dab the paint on with a brush or sponge. Watch out, if you drag your brush up and down you will splatter paint everywhere! Once you have put globs of silks on the tree, spray it with Luminarte Radient Rain. Use any color you want; I used the Ice Blue. The spray will spread the Silks across the depth of the bristles.
The cute tinsel and white bead chain made simple and vintage looking decorations.
I love the vintage inspired image of this girl! It is hardly noticable that she is cut in half to take up two boxes. I covered her with a thin layer of Perfect Pearls Pen Blue, accented her hat, muff and furry coat with Viva Colour's Cream Paper Pen and outlined the edges with Viva Colour's German Glitter Pen in Champagne.
I used several pieces of German foil at the top. The "chandelier piece" is plastic and painted on the back only with Luminarte Silks Silver Bells. The banner is from an image form the Frog Dog Studio Kit and has the edges coverd with the Viva Colour's German Glitter Pen. A short piece of the burlap was the perfect foundation.
Finally the bow, my favorite part! Its all about the layers: red mesh (pulled diagonally), burlap trim, several "chandelier pieces," 1/8 inch silk ribbon, white raffia, scallop flower, and delicate lace bow. The scallop flower becomes really special with Viva Colour's Champagne German Glitter on all the edges of the scallops.
I love it! Hope you enjoy creating and have a wonderful holiday season! -heather
