Splash of Color Blog: The Artful Journey Continues ...

Hello Everyone, Lynn K. back with a new art journal page. Since embarking on my artful journey I have learned so much about mixed media products, colors combinations and what works well together and what doesn't!! I've learned about my self as well - I'm less afraid to try and fail because I ALWAYS learn with each page! I still have lots to learn as the array of mixed media products is enormous!

For today's page I went back to an additional background I created last year. While spraying a combination of Radiant Rain Shimmering Mists (Moonbeams, Pewter and Ginger Flower) on a previous page, I placed the opposite page over it and "mopped up" the ink to create a second background. I knew I would use this background at some point. I then added more layers to build up the background. I painted Silks Acrylic Glaze ~ Raspberry Wine on a rubber stamp and randomly stamped images on the background. I then scraped Viva Colour Modeling Paste through a circle stencil onto the right side of the page. I created some circles with text paper and added them to the bottom of the page. I added more Silks Acrylic Glaze in Raspberry Wine and French Lilac to the text circles and on the Modeling paste circles to tie the colors together.

I wanted to incorporated a magazine image on my page so I cut one out of Vogue Magazine and covered it with black acrylic craft paint. I glued her to the left side of the page and outlined her with a white sharpie poster-paint pen. I added more circles in gesso and Silks Acrylic Glaze ~ Black Ice and splattered gesso randomly on the page for a final layer. I added some journaling to the left of the image and was done!
