An Artful Journey by Lynn Kopas!

Hi Everyone, Lynn here to share my recent art journal project. This page was done in my  9 x 12 sketchbook journal. I am hooked on stencils lately and using one as a background was the premise for this page.

I started by spraying my page with Luminarte Radiant Rain Shimmering Mists in Sweet Whisper and Ginger Flower - these colors are so pretty together! I then used a background stamp and Archival Ink in Vermillion and stamped in a few random places on the page for more detail.

Once dry, I placed the 12 x 12 Nature Existencil - one of my FAV's - over the page. I wanted one single rose to be a different color so I scraped plain modeling paste over all but one of the roses. For the red rose, I mixed Luminarte Pink Grapefruit and Carmen Silks Acrylic Glazes with modeling paste and scraped that mixture over the remaining rose. I then peeled off the stencil and let the page dry overnight. 

 Next I used a script roller stamp and gesso and rolled it over the page to give the page a more painterly effect. I also added some gesso lines with the edge of a credit card ...

For the title I combined a die-cut transparency from the Preposterous Pack, part of a frame and an umbrella from the ATC Pack Life's Journey, a piece of ribbon and a piece of washi tape. This created a base for my chipboard title. I accented the umbrella with Creative Imaginations Viva Colour Pearl Pen in Cream. I used some white rub-ons on the alpha and covered the alpha with glossy accents so it would ... stand out!!

I love how black really makes a page POP! I used a few black rub-ons along the edge of the page and under the title. I then added some circles by dipping a plastic cap into Luminarte Black Ice Silks Acrylic Glaze ...

My journaling on this page was geared to being yourself. I journalined around the edges of the page and around a few of the roses. For a finishing touch I splattered some gesso randomly on the page (I covered the title first).

This is so beautiful! I read this yesterday but forgot to comment. I love how the one different rose stands out and how you created the dimension with roses but also shared tips like the gesso lines. Thanks for sharing.
