I created this paper bra in frilly pinks and sparkling colors. I would like to dedicate this to my Aunt Rita, Aunt Fran and my dear friend, Diane J who are all breast cancer survivors. Because they did monthly self exams, had well women check ups regularly and had a mammogram when the doctors recommended, their breast cancer was caught early. To these women and all others, this bra is for you!
The Monarch Iris Foil paper by Marah Johnson was perfect for the bra as I wanted it to be lovely and pretty. I used Luminarte's Twinkling H20s and Primary Elements to paint the design. I used a heart shaped mini album as the template for the top of the bra . I cut two copies of each section from the Monarch Iris Foil paper; I painted one section and used the second as the liner for the bra and the side panels.Next, I cut off the straps and the hooks and eyes from a worn out bra of my own, shortened the length of the straps and dyed them using Luminarte's Twinkling H20 in Rose Gold. After the straps dried, I glued the straps and the pleated ribbon trim between the two pieces in the front and repeated this process for the side panels with the straps, the hooks and the eyes pieces. I added the trim to the front and the sides.
Off to make my mammogram appointment!
