Hey all! I’m Donna Bryant Durand, and may I start by saying that I am thrilled to be guest designing for Creative Imaginations this month! But, before I share my first project, a little background about me. I’ve always had a passion for photos and memorabilia and have been scrapbooking for well, what seems like, always! I married my “big guy”, Ken, in February of 2004 and work as a litigation paralegal. I’ve no children or pets, but am a really proud Auntie to a niece and nephew that I adore. I love ribbon, buttons and lace and I don’t feel a project is complete without them!! You can find lots of projects on my blog.
Anyway, on to the project..
For my first project, I created a mini-book, combining the soft, muted papers of the Inspired Traveler’s collection with Old World Traveler Stickers by Marah Johnson, Paint It Typewriter Stickers and a Bare Elements Michael chipboard book. I fell in love with the 6” x 6” Art Warehouse Inspired Traveler paper pad as soon as I received it. The colors are gorgeous. The soft blue, green, cream and brown mix immediately reminded me of the beach during our recent vacation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. There are gentle designs on the papers, including a world map, stripes, bark, script and more.
Before I began creating, I applied a thin layer of Luminarte Shimmering Mist in Butternut to the entire album, its edges and all of the stickers and tags that appear on and in it. I applied the mist with a foam paint brush, creating a soft yet dramatic effect. Also, you’ll note that I’ve kept the circle theme throughout the album.
I used of piece of the wonderful green bark paper to create a pleated strip on the cover, and layered it with the Traveler stickers, rick rack and buttons. I enjoy cutting things in half, and these stickers were no exception. You'll also see too, for some added dimension, on the inside of the album, I adhered some twine around the photos.
The Bare Elements Michael album is a 4", already bound circle, but, for the purposes of this album, I removed the binding tape and bound the album with a single ring - there I go, cutting again.
On the following two pages, it was fun to enlarge one photo and cut it and spread it across both pages. I then just adhered a few stickers, a button and a tag.
More twine and buttons here,
And another pleated strip, buttons and cut stickers on this page,
And here's the back!
Thats it!
Thank you Creative Imaginations, for the wonderful, inspiring travel themed products and thank you for stopping by the blog today. I look forward to sharing more of my projects with you throughout the month!
This is wonderful! Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
