Marah Johnson here, I am soo excited to be venturing across the country to my dear friends at the Paper Niche. We have planned an incredible weekend of creativity for you, and a little birdie told me there are a few seats left. If you love to get your fingers full of paint ink glitter and glue...these are the classes for you

 Starting with Friday Night March 30th and nice leisurely class creating an amazing Niche Altered Book.

we will be carving out a Vintage Book to create this magical scene in side....loads of twinkling H2o's, silks, and other goodies will be used to color and tint your book to your arts content.

Saturday we are doing an artist trading card class....this was a HIT at CHA

A Compendium of ATC's

Marah taught this Class at CHA to 75 very happy students....This class will stretch your imagination, will push a boundary, or two and will teach you to embrace your inner and outer artist. you will leave class with at least 6 ATC's and a few started for you to complete at home. In this class you will learn a unique technique for creating faces in your artwork, explore found poetry and dabble in some watercolor exercises.

She will help you gain comfort in your drawing skills, show you a few tricks and techniques. You will go home with a handout of jump starts and ideas. Please Bring a composition book for notes...and a sketch book if you choose to work in your own "Art Journal" Marah will provide plenty of paper and paints to bring your masterpieces to life.

Luminarte Class with Marah Johnson at Scrapbook Island

Marah here, I am so excited to be heading to San Jose on the 18th To help celebrate my dear friends 10 year anniversary of Scrapbook Island. Going to be teaching a super cool new class on the evening of the 19th..going to do a crazy cool bracelet Make n Take with cool wooden bangles and the new Silks by Luminarte.

In class we will make some awesome Art JOurnAl backgrounds and expiriement with a few funky cool collage techniques.

of course no class with me would ever exist without stencils and Luminarte....Silks, Twinkling H2O's, Sprays....I get giddy just thinking about how much fun we are going to have.

Marah here, I have been up since about 5:30 this morning packing kits for my CHA class....I am happy to say I see light at the end of the tunnel....that's always a good thing and such a sense of accomplishment.

This is another CHA ATC Class sample....painting on my Canvas Stickers with Primary Elements by Luminarte. In person this just radiates color and shimmer

a few other canvas stickers from the pack we are using in class...

Some how in the midst of packing, and kitting....sorting and cutting, I am finding time to create a few more ATC's for the booth.

Then, I started to paint

and collage my iPhone cover that I was getting kind of tired of..(painted with the new Primary Elements)

still in the process of course....i will share it when i finish it.

Thought I would show a little peek of the ATC class supplies....Primary Elements Artist Pigments byLuminarte, I am so excited to get to use these at CHA. You have to come by and play 

You can create your own paints that go on VIRTUALLY anything! 

I used the Primary Elements to paint on the BACK of these transparencies (you are going to do this too if you are in my class)

I have a little Twinkling H2O happiness up my sleeve as well.....

just looking at all the colors makes me happy happy happy!

I (Marah Johnson) have painted over 100....yes OVER 100 book pages with Twinkling H2O's for my ATC class they are going to be using them in a guided collage technique...don't they look delish in this stack?

Marah Johnson, I am still working on my ATC class for CHA, and decided one of the cards would be inspired from faces in fashion magazines. I am going to give everyone a page from a fashion magazine in their class kit and walk them through the techniques I use to turn the face into a piece of art with your own twist.

In class I am going to teach you how to step by step slightly alter the photo to create a "new" face...

I used Twinkling H2o's and the new SILKS by Luminarte to paint my ATC, don't forget to head over to the Luminarte facebook for more goodies being given away.

Marah Johnson, CHA is only a couple weeks away and the prep is at match speed....

New products are rolling in every day....samples for the booth are underway, this show i am able to push a few boundaries...go a little bit more mixed media, and boy-o-boy am i loving it.

PLayed with the new LuminArte Silks over the weekend, they are an amazing acrylic glaze with incredible colors and incredible shimmer of course!) I spent the past weekend with my friend Leslie the creator of Luminarte and all of its lovlies...Betsy Roberts, and incredible gourd artist and Jill Walker also an incredible gourd artist. I learned sooo much from these ladies! A special Thank you to Betsy for opening her home and studio to us!

after I painted several coats of Silks on my mannequin, I constructed a birdcage skirt from bailing wire....I got some aggression out by hammering the bailing wire nice and flat( I think it looks a bit more artsy that way)

after the wires were flattened I drilled holes into the mannequin all the way around her and secured them I woven a vintage bronze wired all the way around the skirt creating the finished "birdcage" look....then dug through Betsy's treasures for loads of goodies to hang from the skirt.

for a finishing touch Betsy gave me a pair of wings....true bird wings to attach to the back of my angel. She will be on display at CHA booth 1657

Marah is continuing to AMAZE us today with her artwork! She is sharing a sneak-peak of one of her Art Jounal pages of a lil fishy. 

I (Marah Johnson) posted a bit of my art journal process....Lucky for me the process also includes playing with some of the new products coming out at CHA Winter (Craft and Hobby Show). LuminArte has some new goodies that I am falling in love with! Head over heels in love....

Meanwhile, I am working away at samples for the booth at CHA, designing ATC's for my ATC class at CHA, and feeding my muse with drawings and paintings and journal entries....all of which I am bringing to the show to share with everyone. 

This sweet lil fishy is painted completely with Twinkling H2O's all the way down to its itty bitty scales (That I had to wear glasses to see what I was painting).

Marah here, I went to a thrift shop...and bought a pair of shoes.

Started doodling and drawing on them with a white paint pen....just kinda went for it, no real plan. Art has no rules right?

not too worried how my doodles look...the lines will all be covered up with my paints.

Started to paint the trim with Some Yummy new goodness coming from CI at CHA...

Miss Maddy is taking pictures of the process.....

going to be sporting my shoesies at the CHA show...I have plans for some funky boots too....Stay tuned for those babies!(going to push the envelope a bit on those)

Loads of layers to go...lots of details to be painted. Until then...I will be keeping my fingers full of paint.
