Hi there friends!
I'm proud and happy to be here with you as guest blogger, among so many amazing artists! Thank you so much for the invitation!
To start - here is a bit of information about me:
My name is Anna Dabrowska, also known as Finnabair (pronounced Finavar). I was born in Warsaw, Poland, now I live in Ireland.
I'm a woman of many interests: a mixed media artist, scrap booker and art journaler who love new challenges, experiments and developing new techniques and skills.
My story isn't really long. I enjoyed drawing and paper crafting as a child, but honestly speaking – I finished my “art” education in primary school. The story started in 2007 – some of my friends were „crafty” people and I tried several techniques like decoupage or altering. In the end of 2007 my friends passed me information about scrapbooking and in 2008 I made my first projects – mostly altered notebooks and some paper layouts. It wasn't exactly the thing I was willing to do, but I liked it. My next step was trying mixed-media and collage in 2009 – and that's how I fell in love! I simply couldn't resist trying new and new things. Now I'm really addicted...
My projects are mostly media-based: I create mixed-media collage, scrapbooking pages and journals but in all of them I’m focused on texture, paint, ink, spray or recycling elements. When I create big, multi-step projects like dimensional collage – I do it to show the image I have somewhere in my head, I challenge myself and I try to do new, inspiring things. When I do journaling – it is mostly to express feelings, play with new techniques, take a breath... scrapbooking is more to play with composition and colors... and all of them are mind-cleaning, helping to express feelings, save memories or simply – reduce the need of creating. In general believe in power of recycling and upcycling and just adore texture, paints of any kind and flea market supplies. Freedom, embracing creativity and being true to your inner voice is my main source of inspiration and creative energy.
Now I'm a full time designer and artist and as an experienced traveling teacher I offer a range of my own mixed media-based classes in collage, scrapbooking, art jouraling and more. I create as a freelance designer for scrapbooking magazines (from Russia, Sweden, USA, Great Britain, Germany and France) and international shops. I design projects, products and work with such international brands as Luminarte, Prima Marketing (product designer since 2013), Sizzix UK (design team member since 2012) and 7 Dots Studio ( product designer since 2011).
