I decided to create tags!! How perfect that I get to work with this wonderful Frog Dog Studios/Splash Of Color Mixed Media kit right before Christmas. The tags I created will go on a couple of very special art gifts.
I die cut 2 tags from the peice of chipboard in the kit. I also die cut tags from the canvas in the kit and adhered it to the chipboard. Because the tag is 7 inches long and the canvas was 6 inches, I just cut a smaller piece of canvas and adhered it to the bottom of the tag, because I primed the canvas with the Viva Colour ~ Modeling Cream ~ Pearl, you can't see where I pieced it together! Once the tag was dry, I ran it through my Big Shot with a piece of the red mesh on top and embossed the tag. I pulled off the red mesh and the texture that was left on the tag is wonderful!!! I used the Prima checkered stamp using the Luminarte ~ Silk Acrylic Glaze ~ African Jade and stamped the textured background. Then I used the Luminarte ~ Silk Acrylic Glaze ~ Carmen to edge the perimeter of the tag. I also used it to color the seam binding I used. If you wet the seam binding slightly with water and paint a little silks on the binding, it acts like a dye with shimmer. I love the effect. I took apart a piece of the burlap and strung it with the ribbon.
I loved the little images on a sheet that is in the kit. I fussy cut the image of the gift holding little boy and backed it with the chipboard to make it a bit stronger. I used pop dots to to pick him off of the tag for dimension. I layered the burlap ribbon, red mesh, fussy cut photo, another one of the images backed with the chipboard, and the roses.
I absolutely adore the Tim Holtz fabric pack that came in the kit. To create my roses, I took one piece of the fabric and adhered it to a peice of red card stock using a decopage medium. Once it dried, I ran the fabric through a Tim Holtz Tattered Pinecones die. They make the perfect little roses. Then I just rolled them up and curled back the ends a little to shape the petals. It was so simple and easy!
For the next tag, I created the background the same way as the tag above. The seam binding was treated the same way with the exeption of using Luminarte ~ Silk Acrylic Glaze ~ African Jade to color it. I mixed the tinsel trim with the seam binding for sparkle.
I die cut the bird and cage using the chipboard. I primed them both with the Viva Colour Modeling Creme in Pearl. I mixed a little of the Luminarte ~ Silk Acrylic Glaze ~ African Jade and Luminarte ~ Silk Acrylic Glaze ~ Fern to create a sea green color for the cage.
I took another peice of the awesome Tim Holtz fabric and made some more roses. I also die cut the leafy vine from the same die. Adhereing the fabric to card stock gives the fabric great body! You can treat it like paper.
Here is a closeup of the paper backed fabric roses.
